Dirt is Your Air Conditioner’s #1 Enemy

When customers call with an air conditioning problem, the first thing many contractors ask them is whether they have changed their filter. Often the reply is “why would I change my furnace filter, when the problem is with my air conditioner?”

The fact is that the air handler on your furnace blows air warmed by the heat exchanger in the winter, and blows air cooled by the air conditioning coils in the summer.

A dirty filter will restrict air flow and eventually shut down your system. If you remove the filter, the air will flow freely, but the dirt and debris will cause otherwise preventable breakdowns and even premature failure.

It is just as important – maybe even more important – to change your filter regularly in the summer.
