Dan Dearden, our company founder, has worked on dozens of homes for Habitat, a global nonprofit that focuses on creating affordable housing so that everyone has a decent place to live. At Just Right Heating & Cooling, we usually have a crew of about 20 people volunteering their time to help with the build. They have to go back on multiple occasions during the construction process to complete various elements of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system installation.

We help build homes that are cozy, comfortable, and efficient. Our mission with every home is to install energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment built to last, along with airtight ductwork to save the new homeowner money in the long run.

Part of our job is to ensure the homeowner understands their HVAC system and gets the most value from it. Our techs show them how to operate and maintain the different components for the best results, longevity, and cost.

A Place to Call Home

Chelsea is a single parent raising an eight-year-old son with a big heart and lots of energy. For the past year, the two lived in public housing. But the guidelines only allow them to stay for one year—and the lease is nonrenewable.

It is a difficult cycle for a single mom with a young child, moving from place to place. Working as a civil servant in Park City, Chelsea loves her job. But she cannot afford to live in traditional housing while single-handedly raising a son who struggles with severe vision impairment.

Like any parent, all she wants is to find a secure and stable environment for her child.

Everything changed for Chelsea in April 2021 when she was accepted into the Habitat Homeownership Program. She is currently putting sweat equity into building her family's future home, working around her full-time job and the availability of childcare. She is committed to holding up her end of the partnership.

Today, Chelsea and her son have a place to call their own. The road ahead may have obstacles, but she is ready to face the challenge.

Her son enjoys his new school. He has already made friends in his neighborhood and is excited to settle into his permanent home. They look forward to celebrating 2022 and many more years in their new home.
